The Surge Initiative: Watch the video HERE.

Initiative Overview
Over the past year, our Elders engaged in a season of intense prayer and dialogue. The focus of their patient journey was to discern the Spirit’s leading for the future of our disciple-making movement.

After months of prayer, discussion, and spiritual insight, our elders issued five challenging objectives for the next five years as to how we, as a body, can: further our mission, deepen our walk with Jesus, and better disciple and equip this next generation for His disciple-making movement.

A key obstacle is that our building is out of balance. We have adequate gathering space, but we do not have the disciple-making space needed to intentionally increase the ways we support families, train adults to invest in children, share the Gospel with at-risk youth, and equip the next generation.

Discover your part, your place, in this movement of where we believe He is taking us, how the physical investment of the initiative breaks down, and ways you can invest relationally, pray and contribute to the process.

This is His Movement, Our Moment.

disciple.fellowshipknox.org

Resource Center
What does it mean to be a disciple-maker? What kind of person is a disciple-maker? Many people believe that being a disciple-maker means being a teacher of all things biblical. Church culture can often give the impression that in order to be a disciple-maker, one must have a pastoral position with a seminary education and be proficient in ancient languages. With qualifications like these it is no wonder that many followers of Christ feel overwhelmed with the idea of being a disciple-maker. But are these descriptions biblical? Discover more at disciple.fellowshipknox.org

Pornography and sexual struggle is almost ubiquitous to our culture. Yet, many men fear change or are not desperate enough to take steps toward healing due to the shame and guilt that surround these struggles. This men’s care group addresses sexual and pornography struggles by starting with “what’s right with you” versus “what’s wrong with you”. If you or someone you love are ready to take a brave step toward healing, please email care@fellowshipknox.org. Simply include your name and contact info with the word PREVAIL. So why is Fellowship “Elder-led”?

We follow a leadership model we see prescribed for our benefit by Scripture. The “elder-led” approach provides us with sound guidance from biblically-qualified men. All of our elders meet the stated qualifications for this office as laid out in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

What are the responsibilities of our Elders?

The primary responsibility of an elder is to spiritually shepherd the church (1 Timothy 3:5). That involves a number of specific duties. As spiritual overseers of the flock, elders are to determine church policy (Acts 15:22); oversee the church (Acts 20:28); ordain others (1 Timothy 4:4); rule, teach, and preach (1 Timothy 5:17; cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:12; 1 Timothy 3:2); exhort and refute (Titus 1:9); and act as shepherds, setting an example for all (1 Peter 5:1-3).

They meet regularly to pray and provide spiritual oversight on matters concerning the church. Elders are volunteers: the only paid staff elder is the Lead Pastor.

Who are our Elders?

Rick Dunn rdunn@fellowshipknox.org
Kevin Denning kdenning@fellowshipknox.org
Bob Grove bgrove@fellowshipknox.org
Bill Park bpark@fellowshipknox.org

Would You Pray?
Prayer is a critical and necessary part of our spiritual well-being. Vision, direction, courage and focus all derive from our connection and devotion to Jesus. Would you take a few minutes during your week to pray for our Elders by name? It is one of the most important ways we can encourage and support their leadership and love for our body.
